Head Start & Early Head Start Programs

Welcome to

The Head Start/Early Head Start program of The Tri-County Community Council

What is Head Start?

The Head Start Program is a comprehensive early childhood education program in the United States aimed at promoting school readiness for children from low-income families. The program serves children aged 3 to 5 years old from families with incomes below the federal poverty line, as well as children with disabilities.

What is Early Head Start?

The Early Head Start (EHS) program is an extension of the Head Start program, specifically designed to cater to the needs of pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and their families. EHS was established to support the healthy development of infants and toddlers from birth to age 3 from low-income families, as well as to promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women.
